Ikorodu Youth Movement Screens Applicants For Loan, Sets To Empower Members

Dr. Abiodun Fatai Abatan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative Movement (IDYM), other BOT members and selected members of rhe movement screening one of the applicants.

The Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative Movement (IDYM) on Friday, November 8, 2019, screened about 20 applicants for the N1, 000, 000.00 loan provided by an undisclosed sponsor at the second edition of the youth summit organized by the youth body on October 1, 2019.

According to a release signed by the Secretary, Board of Trustees of IDYM, Mr Sola Sokoya, the loan is to support youths involved in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

He stated that the screenings, which are in phases, started immediately after the summit.

Explaining the processes, Sokoya stated:

“The first phase involved an online registration where fifty-seven applicants across Ikorodu division registered. The second phase of the screening exercise was submission of business profiles where only ten youths submitted their various business profiles while the third process was the screening conducted on Friday.The last phase would  be presentation of loan to successfully applicants”.

“All the successfully screened applicants will be given One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) as loan to support their various businesses”,he added.

The release also stated that the movement has started free skill training programme for youths in Ikorodu Division as part of its effort in combating social vices.

“The youth movement has started her first free skill acquisition and vocational training programme as part of her efforts towards arresting the social vices and rising unemployment amongst youths in the division.

“Forms are available at Ikorodu Town Hall and applicants are expected to submit their  forms on or before Friday, 15th of November, 2019”.

At the screening on Friday were the Chairman of IDYM Board of Trustees  Dr. Fatai Abiodun-Abatan, BOT Secretary, Mr. Sola Shokoya, a member of the board and the Executive Director of the movement, Mr. Bisiriyu Samson, BOT member, Mr. Oke Godwin Olaoluwa and Mr. Olamide Oloyede.
